    Last updated 2 months ago

Maybe this Video of a variety of ZTR Mowers Racing ( Scag, Exmark, Toro, John Deere and Dixie Chopper) will Give You an Idea of How Zero Turn Radius Mowers Give You More Speed and Control!

Place Your Bets, Who do You Think Will Win?

What are the Advantages of Zero Turn Radius Mowers?

    • They are faster ~ an average ZTR does 10 mph.
    • They are easier to maneuver around obstacles and turning around.
    • This easy handling decreases the chance of accidentally leaving unseemly ruts.

What mowers come in zero turn?

    • Walk behinds, riding mowers, and surfers.
    • They come in different widths.

    How long do they last?

    • When properly maintained, a ZTR mower lasts about 3,000 hours.
    • So don’t forget…fuel stabilizer over the winter, fresh fuel, air filters, and spark plugs.

    What is the cost?

    • For a new one, the cost ranges from $2500 to $15,000.
    • Major brands, such as Exmark, Scag, and Toro, hold their resale value.

    Walk Behind Mowers

    • Walk behind commercial lawn mowers are a great choice for hilly properties that you wouldn’t want to risk flipping a rider mower.
    • If the ground is soft, the machine is lighter and won’t sink in.
    • They are very fast, productive, self-propelled and can trailer a sulky or velkie (a wheel the operator stands on—like surfing or water skiing.)
    • Most brands come in a variety of widths and prices range between $2.500-5,000.
    • Compare the top walk behinds

    Stand-On Surfer Mowers

    • Stand-on surfer mowers are fast and maneuverable in tight spaces.
    • Their spring-loaded platform makes hitting bumps easy on the knees and back.
    • Surfer commercial lawn mowers are safer on hills because you can jump off if you are unsteady.
    • Price range is $4,000-6,000.

New EPA Emission Regulations For Small Engines In Full Effect in 2013

    Last updated 3 months ago

Small engines, such as those in motorcycles, lawnmowers and generators create more pollution worldwide than large engines, such as those in cars.

This is what has spurred on the call for new regulations.

While it may seem confusing, this is a GOOD thing for engine efficiency AND the environment!

This year marks the final phase of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) emission regulations on all small-engine equipment. These regulations require small engines to be designed to control losses and permeation losses from fuel systems.

What does this mean for lawn and garden equipment?

Mainly that all gasoline powered equipment are required to be certified by the EPA.

All manufacturers, distributors, dealers, OEMs, repair shops, rental centers and users are required to comply with emission standards (a rather lengthy list of requirements in Title 40 of the U.S. Code of Federal Regulations under Sections 40 CFR 1054 and 40 CFR 1060).

    Huh?

Not to worry.  You really just need to know that the regulations aim at lowering the amount of hydrocarbons by one-third, and that you will see the changes in newly designed EFI (Electric Fuel Injected) engines that meet EPA standards.

This will spur on a plethora of new machines equipped to meet regulations, increased durability and fuel efficiency, such as the Exmark 2013 Lazer X-Series.

Exmark 2013 Lazer X-Series mowers  powered by Kohler EFI (electric fuel injection) engines with electronic governor and exclusive on-board intelligence platform can save you over 500 gallons of gas a year! This is based on 600 hour run time.

Red equipped EFI helps Exmark mowers run more efficiently, utilizing the electronic governor to provide consistent control in varying conditions and reduces noise. This unique system optimizes engine efficiency and performance and reduces fuel consumption by as much as twenty-five percent.

The Red technology monitors engine temperature and oil pressure providing visual warnings of critical system issues to the operator.

Suburban is currently offering a $500 instant retail rebate on select Exmark Lazer E-Series, stop by and check it out today!

If you are OEM dealer, you may want to delve a little deeper into the requirements. This article does a terrific job describing the EPA’s Verify system, as well as what can and can’t be done with generators and other small engine equipment.
